2007 Special Induction Ceremony Parking

Sunday, July 29, 2007 only

Welcome Baseball Fans!

Thank you for being part of baseball history -- the inductions of the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum’s “Class of 2007,” Cal Ripken, Jr. and Tony Gwynn.

Cooperstown is a very small village -- one stop light, 2,100 year-round residents. The Hall of Fame is located at 25 Main Street. The Induction Ceremony will take place at the Clark Sports Center, located about one mile from the Hall of Fame.

The Induction Ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. You should allow PLENTY OF TIME to find parking and transportation to drop-off/pick-up points close to the Induction Ceremony. Parking and traffic control are real issues about which you should be acutely aware. Cooperstown has unavoidable limitations because of its small size. Please read these maps and parking options carefully.

Although there is paid parking available within the village on private lawns, we estimate the Trolley Lots and private parking will be filled very early in the day.

We strongly suggest that you use the peripheral Park and Ride Lots shown on Map 1 to avoid gridlock in the Village. There will be signage and traffic control officers to assist in locating these lots. When you “Park & Ride” from these lots, you will be dropped off -- and picked up -- directly at the Induction Site.

You may wish to consult our Parking Guide (PDF) to learn more about parking in Cooperstown during Induction Weekend.

These lots are approximately five miles from the Induction Site, on County Highway 26. The cost is $25 per car, which includes parking and transportation to and from the Induction Site.

After you park in a color-coded lot, a WHITE/GREEN bus will transport you (15-20 minutes, depending on traffic). The buses will run continuously to and from the Induction Site on Sunday, July 29, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Upon parking, you will receive a color-coded ticket. The ticket is your reminder of where you parked. (Pink ticket, Pink lot). The Park and Ride buses are WHITE WITH GREEN TRIM.

Handicap Parking
A limited number of handicap parking spaces are available throughout the village of Cooperstown. Lots at Chestnut and Leatherstocking street will be made available for those vehicles with active permits. Additionally, all parking lots listed on this page will have ADA buses available on call. Visitors should request the ADA buses when arriving in these parking lots.

At the Induction Site, vehicles will be permitted to drop-off wheelchair visitors on Susquehanna Avenue, at the Induction Site. However, no handicap parking will be available at the Induction Site. Cars will be directed into the nearest lot ($50 or $25) available from Susquehanna Avenue.

Cooperstown Street Closings:
Visitors should also note that on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29, Main Street in Cooperstown will be closed to vehicle traffic between Chestnut and Fair Streets, while Pioneer Street will be closed between Lake and Church Streets.

Trolley Lot Parking
Parking in the three trolley lots, located just outside the village limits (colored blue, red & yellow), is free, but extremely limited. We estimate these lots will be full by 8 or 9 a.m. on July 29. See Park and Ride, Map 1.

The cost to ride the trolleys is $5 for adults, free for children under 12, on July 27, 28, 29, and 30.

Trolley hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29; 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 27 and Monday, July 30.

Village Trolleys
The old-time-looking RED trolleys will run their routes (noted in red) and will make their regular stops throughout the village (including several stops in the downtown area) throughout the day.

The trolleys WILL NOT run to and from the Induction Site. See Hall of Fame Shuttle Service, below.

Hall of Fame Shuttle Service
You can get back and forth from the Induction Site and the downtown area by using free shuttle buses provided by the Baseball Hall of Fame. These YELLOW AND BLACK shuttle buses will run continuously from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. You should allow 10 to 20 minutes to get from Doubleday to the Induction Site, depending on vehicular traffic.

You may also walk from the downtown area to the Induction Site. It’s about one mile, 20 minutes.

Estli Avenue Lot
This public parking lot is within walking distance -- 10 minutes -- of the Induction Site. The cost is $50 per car.
